It’s a good idea to prioritise your spending. Once you’ve finished your list of all the things you want for your wedding and you have budgeted, you’ll need to decide how much you want to spend on each service or item. Maybe you’re a fine wine buff or your dress needs to be spectacular but don’t forget that once the wedding is over, the photographs will be the main thing that you will remember your big day by! It’s still important to get professional photographers!
Many couples choose to get married during spring and summer on a Saturday. This is great but it’s also the peak time. Many places in Norfolk will charge you far less for say, a winter wedding on a Monday! Winter light is also very beautiful for those all important wedding photographs.
There are, of course, many stunning (and expensive) wedding reception venues in Norfolk but with a little bit of searching, it’s not that hard to find a nice place to suit your budget. Less obvious venues can cost a fraction of big hotels. How about a church or village hall or a local sports club? Once they are decorated, they’ll look amazing and great for photography! Here are a few recommended venues we have found:
If you want to go a bit more corporate and a bit more expensive but still remaining sensible then Britannia Hotels, Holiday Inn and Old English Inns all do a £999 package. All of these chains can be found in Norfolk. You get a three-course sit down meal or a buffet for 40 to 50 guests and a glass of bubbly. With Holiday Inn this price also includes a DJ and overnight stay for the happy couple!
The venue is usually the biggest expense on your big day and the dress can come a close second. It’s perhaps not so well known that you can order custom made wedding dresses from China through ebay! Do some research to check that you’re going to get quality but if you get it right you can get a made to measure dress for around £100! Search for ‘custom wedding dress’ and remember to include postage and import tax. If you feel unsure about it then you could always buy second hand from sites such as http://www.sellmyweddingdress.co.uk/
It’s good to remember that a wedding is about the marriage of two people, not how glitzy the day is. So why get into unnecessary debt? Your big day will still be unforgettable!
