Albion Days is a unique venue in Norfolk. Set in woodland not far from Norwich, they can create fresh bouquets made from hedgerows on the morning of your wedding! They can even make hand-made dresses and lanterns to hang in the trees and provide story tellers and fiddlers. Makes for great photography!
Or buy a second hand dress or better still make your own then donate it afterwards!
Source seasonal, non-hot house flowers from as close by as possible.
Hire musicians and entertainers from the local area to avoid travel miles and fuel consumption. There is even a DJ out there who doesn’t need any electricity. DJ78 uses a pair of wind-up 1930 gramophones and plays 78rpm shellac discs of music from the 20s to the 50s! He actually played last year in Norwich at the Big Dance Weekend.
Instead of asking for wedding gifts, why not ask your guests to donate to charities?
One of the biggest expenses are the wedding rings. There are ethical companies that who only source Fairtrade and Fairmined gold and jewels. They work with small-scale miners and actually put money back into the local community.
Honeymoon in the UK! There’s no reason to travel to some far flung destination when Norfolk has so many beautiful places to offer. How about the aptly named 3 Honeymoon Row? This is a beautiful 300 year old cottage that was originally converted for the use of honeymoon couples arriving by train from the Midlands.
There are endless options in Norfolk and elsewhere helping you to tailor make your wedding. The Church of England has recently stated that is receiving more and more requests for sustainable weddings. So whatever your views are about what’s green and what isn’t, we all getting more environmentally conscious and it is bound to filter down to all areas of our lives and that includes weddings!
